One of my favorites online retailer is Woot.com. They sell one discounted item per day and charge a flat $5 shipping no matter what the item is or how many you buy (the max is 3). Every so often instead of business as usual, they have what’s called a Woot Off. During this time, they sell products one after another until sell out. Often this culminates with a Random Crap offering that gives you a “Bag of Crap” for $3. The site’s servers usually overload when this happens and the item sells out in seconds. I’ve been trying for 4 years to order a Bag of Crap and a few days ago I was able to thanks to my secret weapon, wooters.us.
Today I received my Bag of Crap, which came in a box Fed Ex Smart Post. I was dissapointed that the box was only 5 pounds, but here’s what I got:
- ¤ Ezyflare Emergency Electronic Flare [$19.95 from Sears]
- ¤ iPower² iPhone 3G Battery Backup Power [$79.99 from Costco]
- ¤ Trend Micro Internet Security (3 User) [$30.49 from Amazon]
- ¤ Digital Concepts 2 Hour Charger (with Car Charger) [$19.99 from Amazon]
- ¤ Daiwa Zipper Binder (of undetermined origin)
- ¤ 25 Sandisk MP3 Player Clear Plastic Case (worthless)
- ¤ Targus Notebook Cooling Chill Mat (no power cord)
- ¤ Some kind of Back Pain Relief System (incomplete, untested, and not pictured)
For $8, this was a great deal. I figured I could sell 3 installs of Trend Micro for $20 each and make a pretty healthy profit.
I was shocked to find out that the iPower² was worth sold for as much as it does. So what did I do, I listed it on eBay.
The Sandisk Cases are worthless.
I think the Daiwa case has something to do with fishing.
